One of my favorite things about my favorite people is finding out about their favorites. Something about getting a fresh idea from someone you trust sets you off in a new direction with fun possibilities. Here are a few of my favorites this summer.
1. Goodwill Shopping
Where else can you get a pair of cute earrings for $.50? (Don't worry, I'll give them a good washing before I hook them through my ears!)
I have tried to be the consume-less girl who is always cognizant of her carbon footprint, but I have to face facts. I love fashion and ain't nobody gonna change that. Somebody already bought these treasures firsthand and the environmental baggage that goes along with them. I can shop at Goodwill guilt free!
2. Chobani Simply 100 Non-Fat Greek Yogurt
This is my mid-morning snack. There are no artificial sweeteners and only 7 grams of sugar., sweetened naturally with Stevia. Need I say more?
3. Good Books
I have read some page turners this summer, not the least of which is this sweet read. The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy is the sequel to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Beautiful prose. I've also been into Liane Moriarty and can't wait to read Shauna Niequist's new Present Over Perfect. Oh for more time to put my nose in a book.
4. Colton Dixon & UnityFest 2016
If you ever have the chance to see Colton Dixon live, spend your grocery money to buy a ticket. As an 80s rocker, I am in love with any Christian band that can shred and not make Jesus seem like the character in some sappy love story. Along with Colton, we saw Finding Favor, We Are Messengers, Hawk Nelson, and Newsboys at Unity Fest. There is something very powerful about standing alongside thousands of other believers unapologetically testifying to the truth. It is a rare privilege these days.
Jamie recently celebrated her hundredth episode and regularly hosts guests like Jen Hatmaker, Emily Freeman, Shauna Niequist, and Rachel Hollis. Jamie is humble, hilarious, and a great host. You will glean so much wisdom from listening to her podcast. Pop those earbuds in and take a walk!
6. Longmire
I rarely watch TV, but my husband and I have recently stumbled upon this gem. Think Sherlock Holmes meets Gunsmoke. The stories are highly entertaining and the characters strong and believable. Plus, it takes place in Wyoming. We just returned from a trip out West so we are hooked. Pop some popcorn and pray for a rainy day. You won't want to stop watching!
What are your favorites? I'd love to hear from you!
